RULES

SIGNING UP TO PARTICIPATE IN THE BLUFFDALE BADLANDS 25 MILE CYCLING RIDE, CONSTITUTES YOUR AGREEMENT TO OBEY THESE GUIDELINES

This is an open course road ride; there are potholes, obstacles, automobiles, traffic lights, signs, and road construction.  Cyclists  are responsible to obey all traffic laws to protect themselves  from injury while riding.

CYCLISTS NOT COMFORTABLE RIDING UNDER THESE CONDITIONS SHOULD NOT PARTICIPATE.

1.  Helmets must be worn at all times.

2.  Traffic lights and stop signs are a part of this event; please follow the rules of the road at all times. The only exception would be if law enforcement or traffic control officials wave cyclists through -- be alert and proceed with caution.

3.  ALL participants will be required to sign a UDOT “Waiver and Release of Damages Form” upon check-in. If you are a MINOR you will need a parent signature. You can print the form in advance and bring it with you. See "UDOT WAIVER" Button above.

4.  Cyclists should not impede the normal and reasonable movement of vehicle traffic and should stay right of the white line and in a single file pace line as much as possible

5.  For mechanical support, cyclists should still plan to carry their  own tubes, CO2 cartridges, and tools necessary for minor repair.

6.  TRASH AND RECYCLING-  Please discard trash in the appropriate container. Intentional littering will be grounds for disqualification.

Violations that will result in automatic disqualification:

- Running a stop light or stop sign

- Crossing the center line at any time

- Drafting behind neutral support vehicles after mechanical checks

- Unsafe or unsportsmanlike conduct

- Not wearing a helmet.

- Listening to music on an iPod (or equivalent), wearing  earbuds, headphones, etc.

- Talking on a cell phone while riding

- Blatant and indiscreet public urination

- Intentional littering
